Would it offend my gay roommate to send him an article by the Queer Eye Guy? I was watching tennis at home with my shirt off. My gay roommate was sitting on the couch in a towel. He kept saying the tennis outfits looked "sloppy" unlike the outfits Net Heads like Aurther Ashe wore. I found an article on tennis outfits reviewed by "gay" himself Carson Kressley. Would this offend my roommate if i sent it to him? I know gays can be touchy what with prop 8, illegal immigration, and the Pope not being gay. |

Would you be comfortable having a gay roommate in college? I'm about to enter the "dorm life" and I just want people's opinions on how they feel about having a gay roommate.
Would it affect you in anyway?
Would you be comfortable?
Would you like to know if your roommate is gay or should he keep it to himself?
Do you think you can be friends? |
I think it would be okay not a problem with me if the gay dude keeps his lifestyle to himself. I am a straight dude and i would hope that he would respect me being straight like i would respect him being gay.

Would you be comfortable with a gay roommate? I'm going to be entering college pretty soon and living in a co-ed dorm. I am a gay dude, and even though it's co-ed, I'd prefer it if I had another male roommate for my own comfort and because they'd be more familiar with guy stuff. I wouldn't want to live in the same room with someone who was awkward and uncomfortable around me, so I am just wondering if other guys would be comfortable living with a gay roommate, and how would you feel about it.
Thanks. I posted this earlier today but I'd like more responses. |
I actually have lived with a gay male roommate before, and I had mixed feelings about it. For starters, I had no problem at all with the fact that he was gay. However, he seemed to have a problem with me. I tried to make an attempt to get to know him, interact with him whenever he was in the room for longer than a few minutes, and genuinely be nice to him. My attempts did not work, through. He was incredibly anti-social when he was around me, and very social when with his friends and boyfriend. Very much a Jekyll-and-Hyde type of deal. His boyfriend and some of his other friends were very nice to me and his boyfriend warmed up to me pretty fast - which caused some unwanted tension between me and my roommate. Ultimately, I had to switch roommates because my own said "He did not feel comfortable in the room with me". And to this day, I still don't know what happened or what I did or said to make him feel that way.
I say just be yourself and go for it. I'm sure that it won't make much of a difference to your roommate if you're gay or not. Ultimately, you paid to be there and your money is just as good as anyone else's. |
How do I get rid of a gay roommate? Going to college soon and I got stuck with a queer roommate. We both went to the roommate orientation meet-up and he couldn’t stop talking about Glee and figure skating. I told him I didn’t believe in the gay lifestyle and he was like, “Ohhh thop it, thilly.” I’d also prefer not to be anally violated at night. All other rooms on campus are taken, so I need a way to get rid of him.
Any ideas? |
Eep, that doesn't sound like fun, and I am gay XD!!! Well, first, I can suggest just to try to room with him, but tell him that you don't like Glee or figure skating. If he doesn't stop talking about it, tell him you will put something that he hates (find that out) on him >:D!!!! If he's germaphobic, you can have some fun, so find out some of these things. Also, he probably won't hurt your anus or even touch it, but when you get there, tell him that you know it's just the way he is on the inside, but ask him not to touch you or do anything like that because you aren't gay. If that doesn't work (Which I hope to god it does), then try talking to the person who deals with the roommates. Well, good luck bud. Hope I helped!
And for all you others, don't be mean! I mean, if you were straight and had to room with a gay person, you have to admit it would be a little bit awkward, and besides that, I would rather die than put up with someone talking about Glee and figure skating all the time... |
Is it hard living with a gay roommate if your are straight? (and vice versa)? I am going to be a freshman at Pace University this fall and was wondering about other peoples experiences. If you are gay, was it hard for you to have a straight roommate? Or did you have a gay room mate and how did that work out? And on the flip side, if you are straight, was it or is it hard having a gay roommate, or is it no problem at all? I was just wondering what other people did on the off chance I find myself in one of these situations
Thanks guys! |
I lived on campus for three years, so I had three different sets of roommates, and we all got along perfectly fine. I love those guys in fact, was even a groomsman in one roommate's wedding. My mates from those years were all really different too (a guy from Britain, guy from Pakistan, a drug addict, a man-whore, two very conservative Christians, a jock), and not one of them had a problem with me.
I was terribly anxious about it too. It'll be great though, you'll see. :)

Would you support or oppose a soldier who refuses to share a room with a gay roommate in the military dorms? I had a roommate for seven months in Air Force tech school and another one for three years at ny duty station.
Would you support or opposed a person's decision to not share quarters with a gay roommate in the military? |

Will i go to hell for having a gay roommate? well me and my friend were out at a bar we picked up some guys and took em back to the house and after they left i said no homo....and i noticed my roommate didnt...i mean here a am thinking ive got a strait roomate and now im starting to think hes a little homosexual, so is he gay? and if so do i move out? |
1. You won't go to hell.
2. You don't know if your roommate is gay.
3. If you are uncomfortable, you should move out.
a. If you signed a lease, accusations of homosexuality won't get you out of it. |
Are you allowed to ask for a gay roommate in college? I'm only 15 so im not going to college yet but im just curious;
When you set up your housing [dorm] are you allowed to ask for a prefered sexualy orientation of your roommate?
like what i mean is... what if your gay and you are really scared of getting a homophobic roommate that you have to live with all year! Can you tell someone whoever is in charge that you want a gay roommate? |
I don't know if that is possible. On my housing application there wasn't any place to put your sexuality, but there was a place to request a certain person. If you know someone going to the same college who is gay you can request him. Also, if you do get a homophobic room mate you can always do a room change.
At my school there is a place on the application for Transgendered as a gender. If you really really feel uncomfortable you can do that, but you would have to explain why, and they will give you your own room with your own bathroom. |
My gay roommate is making unwanted sexual advances toward me what should I do? I normally have no problems with gay men until they try to get me involved in their private life. |
| Yeah, its probaly anonying. Just cut it off. Honesty is the only way to go it these situations........tell him straight up, "your a cool guy but I'm not attracted to guy. I'm straight but we can be friends aslong as you won't cross the line" |
How can I find out if my roommate is gay? I am worried my roommate is gay. When we drink I feel like he is constantly coming on to me. He touches me for no reason. It makes me uncomfortable as a straight male. I feel like one night he is just going to sneak into my bed. I don't want to ask him straight up because then I risk offending him if he is not gay. Is there some sort of a gay test? Help I must know whether I am living with a in the closet homosexual. |
| If his d*ck tastes like sh*t, he's prolly gay. |
